Modem-Art Ltd. is a privately held fabless semi-conductor company specialized in developing system-on-a-chip solutions for wideband and broadband communications systems. Since its foundation at the beginning of 1998, Modem-Art is focused on the development of a programmable baseband processor for third generation (3G) mobile terminals. This integrated chip-set along with its embedded software handles the communications protocols required by single mode 3G W-CDMA (UMTS) terminals as well as multi mode UMTS + GSM/GPRS terminals.

Modem-Art’s baseband processor chipset has been developed around the core technology of Modem-Art, the Programmable Modem Engine (PME). The PME is a very powerful physical layer processor optimized for the implementation of W-CDMA. The PME has a remarkable and unique performance in terms of low power consumption, broad system functionality, programmability and flexibility that enables to bring leading 3G mobile terminals to the market.

This team has a vast knowledge of the UMTS system that goes back to the early days of the 3GPP standard initiative along with a clear picture and understanding of the cellular market requirements that are supported by close relationships with leading handset manufacturers.
